Leaving Geo

It has not been an easy decision to leave GEO and Join PTV World. I started journey with GEO TV in 2006 and left just now. In these years, I spent a year in the States, except that one year, I didn’t avail even the titled leaves owing to the work load and small team strength.
I also admit here that I couldn’t get myself a better start with journalism than the Geo tv. I learned, explored and accomplished so much during my years with GEO. I started off as a researcher, but during all these years, I did all sort of work from research to reporting to production to translation to news making. You name it and I did it. I am so content in saying that it was a great learning experience.
In all these years with Capital Talk as this is the program I kept associated with during my years with Geo, I gave my best for the program and, today as I am no more with program, I can proudly say that I not only contributed in doing different sorts of programs but with usage of social media, I also made the program more accessible to the public through its Facebook, twitter and now website handling.
There were so many factors risen after my return from the States that compelled me to quit Geo and look for a new opportunity. There were manifold reasons, one to state is I was not given apt designation that I really deserved after gaining so much and, also I am the one who was given the same designation for four and half years even after doing multifaceted work.
As a dedicated worker, I rejoined with Capital Talk after return from the States and fulfilled my commitment. But in return, I got nothing as a reward which was my right. I didn’t want to beg it, so thought to part ways.
As soon as the news of my joining PTV reached to my colleagues, few of them out of anxiety and little bit of concern called me to make me more frustrated that I should not have left Geo for PTV. My reply to them was simple-These years with Geo has made me a better professional besides this I got nothing. The fellowship I got was my personal effort.
However, I am again admitting that whatever I have learned about broadcast journalism I owe this to Geo. I also believe that I have left Geo for another big name. I will always hold this privilege having worked for number one talk show of the country.
I thank God for giving me this opportunity and again it proves that merit still holds ground in Pakistan.
